The Shelf · Counter Culture: What the Clinic Counter Sells, With the Lists Read
Obagi Medical Hydrate Luxe
The heaviest moisturizer on the shelf and the one you reach for when a retinoid has gone too far. It is an overnight cream in the old sense: you put it on last and you feel it there. Obagi does not publish the list on its own page, which is why this entry named nothing for months. Dermstore does publish it, and read in full it is a butter-and-oil cream, shea and mango seed butter over avocado oil, with sodium hyaluronate, allantoin, bisabolol and two peptides further down. It also contains fragrance, last on the list.

- Sits over anything without pilling
- The list is readable at last, and it is butters and oils rather than actives
- Texture
- A heavy, almost balmy cream that takes a minute to disappear

Our verdict on the Obagi Medical Hydrate Luxe
The heavy one, and now a legible one. Skip it if fragrance is a problem for you.
